There are many opportunities for self-advocacy in the NCBC, as members decide which book they want to read, how they want to read the book, and how they want to organize their weekly meetings.

Members
Each Next Chapter Book Club has its own personality. Group members are racially and ethnically diverse, with a wide range of literacy abilities. Our members range in age from 11 to 82. Each book club has 5 to 8 members with about as many men as women.
Next Chapter Book Club members include independent readers, those who do not read or speak, and everyone in between. We welcome anyone with a desire to learn and make friends. Many of our members enjoy helping others in their book clubs, and all are encouraged by the achievements of their fellow members.
